Lois Pereiro

Lois Pereiro was born in Monforte de Lemos on the 16th February 1958. He was a Galician writer.

Lois started to write when he was 15 years old. He started to study his career in Madrid, where later he learned English, French, and German, and where he founded his first magazine "Loia" with other Galician writers ( Antón Patiño, Manuel Rivas, and his brother Xosé Manuel Pereiro).

In 1981 he returned to Galicia and he joined the magazine "La Naval".

In 1983 and 1987 he worked as a dubbing translator of German, English, and French.

The most outstanding works of Pereiro are: Poemas 1981/1991 (1992), Poesía última de amor e enfermidade (1995) and, Poemas para unha Loia (1997).

Lois died in 1996, in La Coruña, when he was 38 years old, because he had a lot of diseases, including the VIH.

This year "La Real Academia Galega" devoted "O dia das letras galegas" to him. In the "Centro Galego de Barcelona" there are a lot of events, and art exhibitions, about Lois Pereiro.
